Academic scholarships
Qualified applicants are automatically considered for all academic scholarships evaluated on the basis of high school coursework, class rank, and standardized test scores.
- Lake Superior Academic Excellence Scholarship: 50% Tuition
Students who graduate in the top 15% of their high school class are automatically considered.
- National Academic Excellence Scholarships: $4,000-$8,000
Each applicant is automatically considered.
- Northwoods Academic Excellence Scholarships: $5,000-$8,000
Students from northern Wisconsin, northeast Minnesota, and Michigan's western Upper Peninsula, who graduate in the top 16-25% of their high school class, are automatically considered.
- Dean's Scholarship: $3,000
This award is given to qualified students that do not receive National Academic Excellence Scholarships.
Transfer scholarships
Qualified applicants are automatically considered for transfer scholarships.
- Transfer Achievement Scholarship: $4,000-$7,000
Northland College has official articulation agreements with many two-year colleges.
Admitted applicants who have completed their Associate's degree from these articulating colleges will be considered for this award.
- Transfer Scholarship: $3,000-$5,000
Transfer students from two- and four-year colleges are eligible for the Transfer Scholarship based on their cumulative academic record.
- Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship: $2,000
Two-year college transfer students who are members of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society can receive a PTK Scholarship.
Students must submit official transcripts that list their induction into PTK.
This award can be added on to other transfer scholarships, but the total cannot exceed $6,000.
Special recognition and service scholarships

You must complete a scholarship application to be considered.
- Valedictorian/ Salutatorian: $1,000
Rank 1st or 2nd in your graduating class.
- Diversity Scholarship: $1,000-$1,500
Scholarships are awarded to qualified students who are U.S. citizens and contribute to the cultural diversity of the Northland campus.
- Music Scholarship: $250-$1,000
Scholarship decisions are based on auditions or the review of taped performances.
You need not major in music to qualify.
- Leadership and Service Scholarship: $1,500-$2,000
Scholarship awards are based on student service to the environment, to their school, or to their community.
Application deadline is March 1.
